Gene and I are committed to acquiring less “things” and having more adventures in 2021.
Given the continued presence of Covid, it can be a bit more challenging but certainly not impossible to find true adventure. And having adventures doesn’t always involve international travel and big game viewing.
Many times adventure is right in your own backyard. Our first adventure of 2021 was dining at a magical little place in Scottsdale. (I gave this to Gene for Christmas and we recently asked our neighbors to go with us making it a party of four.) The Marriott Adero in Scottsdale offered the option of dining al fresco in a holiday igloo bubble. There were four dining globes to pick from and it was a little bit of magical fun to dine out in this manner. Each globe was decorated in very subtle and welcoming holiday decor. There were space heaters to keep you warm as winter temps in the desert have been known to dip into the low 40’s. There was a full service menu, along with wine and specialty cocktails menus to select from.
The best part was eating outside, in an igloo, or globe, under the stars. Each igloo had a different interior configuration and each had the same amazing view of the valley. From upside down wreaths used as ceiling lighting, to ‘fur’ throws to keep you warm, it was clear there had been considerable thought put into the ambiance. Robyn of Robyn’s Nest Home in Peoria, AZ was responsible for the decor.
I am hopeful more facilities create options like this throughout the year. It’s serene, romantic and renews your soul with its playful simplicity. Now where can I order one for our backyard? (Note, this is running through 1/10/2021 and may be booked via Open Table.)
