Warm holiday greetings!
Amid the magical mayhem of the holiday I’m starting to think about the upcoming year. When I look back to January of this year as I shared my big, hairy, scary goal of starting a blog I realize how far I’ve come.  Don’t be fooled.  When I published that first blog post I felt the room spin and my knees buckle slightly. I knew it was sink or swim.  It was public and it was “go” time.  Approaching the one year mark from launch, I can acknowledge that some things were done well and some things were opportunities for learning.  As I published those first few months of content I was scared. What if no one joined me?  I quickly put that thought to rest with the realization that if only one person joined me my audience would have increased by 100%. (It’s all about a positive perspective isn’t it?) But I was putting myself out there to friends, relatives and strangers. I vowed to be successful and accomplish the one thing that scared me slightly … publish a blog! And I invited you to join me – for better or worse.  So what are my thoughts as the year draws to a close?

I am proud of myself for honoring my commitment and grateful I invited you to join me. (And yes, more than one person joined, thankfully!). You provided me with your honest input and you let me know you were learning from and enjoying the blog content. The first time I got a compliment on the blog I got a bit misty eyed. I went out of my comfort zone and secured guests I didn’t know. I learned a long time ago if you don’t ask, you will never get a “Yes”. I planned an editorial calendar and found out quickly how to fill in for guest authors whose plans changed at the last minute. A trusted friend stepped up to help me with editing. And yes, between us we still make editorial mistakes but we have fun and don’t beat ourselves up over them. (Thank you to Robert Smith, my editor at large, for your unwavering support, editorial assistance, input and friendship this past year; you’re  valued and respected.) And I honored my own personal commitment to publish and promote positive content and people.

I have a renewed opportunity to learn more this year as my blog continues to grow. I’m excited about the impact the people who are sharing their lives, intellect, and learning’s have on us collectively. Everybody has a great story – we just need to show a genuine interest in hearing it, ask a few good questions and sit back and let them tell their story.

I hope you will join me in 2020 and make your own big hairy, scary goals and SHARE THEM with me and our community. Trust me, you’ll feel so proud of yourself for taking the time to invest in your goals. Plus, once you achieve them, a personal celebration is in order to mark the milestone! I have been using an awesome  planner which I purchased from Amazon. The planner shows you “how to become the best possible version of yourself on a mental, physical & interpersonal level.” I encourage you to achieve your goals with me this year utilizing this planning workbook. (Or any one of your choice that helps your succeed at the goals you set. Click the “I’m In!” button at the bottom of this newsletter to let me know you would like to join me and accomplish YOUR goals with me. You will find lots of support from this dynamic community as well. To close, I’m copying the last few paragraphs from last years commitments since I am carrying them forward into 2020.

“So why follow my blog? Why commit to ” being smart, doing well, and doing it your way” with me? Because you are worth it. Because I care about you and want each of you to find your best self while helping those around us. Right now, I have a blog of one (Me). But I know in my heart you’ll join me. I believe in myself and I have a burning passion to share what I’ve learned in business, in my marriage, as a parent, as well as my thoughts on beauty (inside and out). I’ve got over 50 years in many of those roles and I have the scars and stars to share with you. I’ll have exciting guest contributors along with input from our community. Join me!! I promise you’ll be an integral part of our community and you will “get as good as you give.”

Whatever holiday you celebrate this December; Christmas, Hanukkah, St. Nicholas Day, Kwanzaa or New Year, enjoy yourself. I look forward to hearing your goals for 2020! I can’t wait to see you succeed or exceed in 2020! I am here for you and look forward to hearing about your wins!
